Root Canal Treatment Bethlehem

A More Comfortable Approach to Saving Teeth

A simple toothache is often caused by a sinus infection, sensitivity, or a cavity. One that remains in pain for several days or a week is often the result of a serious infection deep within the innermost layer. Known as the pulp – an area consisting of nerves and blood vessels – this can lead to tooth extraction if left unchecked. With root canal treatment in Bethlehem, we can restore the health of the affected area and avoid the need for tooth removal. Don’t hesitate to call our office if you suspect this form of care might be required.

What Happens During a Root Canal?

  • Our dentist will begin by providing local anesthesia to numb your mouth. If you require dental sedation, it will be given at this time. Once you are comfortable, we will apply a dental dam to isolate the affected tooth so that no moisture reaches the treatment area.
  • After a small opening is made in the crown of the tooth, we will use specialized instruments to carefully clean out the inner layers, including the root canals, the pulp chamber, and the pulp itself (full removal).
  • We will shape and sterilize the canals to ensure no bacteria remain before filling the space with a biocompatible solution known as gutta-percha.
  • Your tooth will be sealed so that no bacteria will reinfect the space, and we will take an impression so that a customized dental crown can be created and applied for maximum protection.
